In this scene, Lady Macbeth is trying to calm/ reassure Macbeth. At one point she says: “Come on, Gentle my lord, Sleek o’er your rugged looks. Be bright and jovial among your guests tonight.” She is telling him to relax and be cheerful and agreeable amount their guests that night. She does not want them to suspect a thing but if his mood was off this might show the guests that something is wrong.
